Energy efficiency and electricity consumption
Cooltech.bg2022-06-28T12:29:27+03:00What is energy efficiency?
As energy efficiency becomes more and more of a buzz term, we’d like to shine a light on the information gravitating on the internet on what it means and how you as a consumer would benefit most from a highly energy-efficient appliance.
As we noted in our previous article on the energy rating of refrigeration appliances, it is now possible to better distinguish between efficient and inefficient appliances: from 1 March 2021, all fridges and freezers with a direct sale function must have an energy label. This is also beneficial for you, as it will be easier to find the most efficient appliances.
To encourage the sale of energy-efficient appliances, storage cabinets must be energy labeled from 1 July 2019. The label shows the energy classification in classes A+++ to G, the energy consumption in kWh/year, the useful volume in liters, and the climate class for which the appliance is designed.
Comparison in power consumption between a budget freezer and a premium freezer
Speaking of power consumption, we did a quick comparison in power consumption between a budget freezer option and a premium option.
We know that when planning a new investment for a professional kitchen, budgets are tight and everyone is looking to reduce or limit costs due to a lack of initial capital. However, the service life of quality professional appliances is not small, on average between 7 and 10 years.
That’s why we’d like you to take a look at the following data, comparing the cost of electricity consumption and the corresponding savings you would realize if you opted for a premium model.
Price difference (price excluding VAT):
Power consumption (according to manufacturer's official data):
Cost of electricity and life of the appliance:
Against this data, you would have "made up" the difference in your investment over this period:
If we also consider the service life of the unit, the numbers are as follows:
The conclusion is as follows:
In just a 2-year period, by choosing a premium energy-efficient appliance, you would make electricity savings that would make up for the price difference between models.
In the fourth year, the premium model will have an edge over the budget variant.
With an average appliance “life” of 7 years, the premium model would already save over 1000lv on electricity consumption.
Choose wisely, think ahead!
